Abstract/Description

We all understand projects. They start and they end. Hopefully close to when we hoped they would and for about the same cost. But products work differently and Agile is all about product delivery. The Product Office helps us define, build and govern agile product delivery. It makes priority and status visible, allowing informed trade-off decisions based on empirical data rather than a static plan.

But how does that work? If I’m used to thinking of projects, with a beginning and an end, how do I shift to a product mindset? The answer lies in how you define work to be done, how you fund the work, how you track it to manage risk, and what you do when you release the work.

Products are not projects, and they don’t work well when managed like projects. The Product Office brings structure and transparency to agile teams delivering products. In this session, we will introduce you to the Product Office, explain how it is aligned with product delivery not project delivery, and how it helps product delivery across teams.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discover the benefits of product management over project management
  • Clarify the functions of a Product Office (vs a Project Management Office)
  • Understand how a Product Office works in your organization
